An NHS list kept on inside a private group

Merseyside Dental Centre has looked after the same Huyton and Knowsley families for decades, and its NHS contract is still registered under the earlier partnership name, R.K. Nagpaul and Associates. Au Dental has since taken the practice on and refitted it, yet the mixed model survived: NHS, private and a monthly membership plan side by side. The group’s six other surgeries sit in Cheshire, Warrington, Leigh, Stockport and Milton Keynes, so this is its only Merseyside address.

Treatments

General family dentistry is the core: examinations, hygiene and gum care, fillings, root canal treatment, crowns, bridges, dentures and extractions. Then implants, composite bonding, veneers, whitening in custom trays, and AirPolish, which lifts staining with air, water and fine powder rather than a rotating cup. Same-day emergency appointments are routine, and the emergency rota carries on into Saturday.

Straightening and technology

Two aligner routes run in parallel. Invisalign has been fitted here for over fifteen years. The second is 32Co, a platform on which a UK specialist orthodontist plans and supervises the case remotely while the treatment is delivered in Huyton — specialist-grade orthodontics without being referred out of the building. Both begin with an iTero digital scan instead of impression putty.

The team

Deeper than most suburban practices manage: around a dozen dentists on the rota, four dental therapists who run hygiene and simpler restorative work in their own right, and a full nursing team. Radha Nagpaul, whose name the NHS contract still carries, treats here alongside Jane Barnett, Nicola Farmer, Thameena Chowdhury and Maria Kyriakides. A rota that size keeps same-day slots open.

The NHS profile records wheelchair access throughout, an induction loop, tactile flooring, facilities for assistance dogs, an online sign-language interpreter and translation services. It suits families with small children, adults who have avoided dentists for years, and autistic patients: the theme running through patient feedback is patience, plain explanation and no lecture about the state of your teeth.
