Dentistry and medical aesthetics, run by the same clinician

Smileworks is fully private, dentist-led and owned by the clinicians who run it: lead dentist MJ Rowland-Warmann and Ed Challinor, a barrister of Gray’s Inn. Half of it is a dental practice, half a medical aesthetics clinic, and it also trains other dentists in injectable medicine at its own aesthetic hub. Private and NHS practices refer cases here for CBCT imaging, endodontics and oral surgery.

Treatments and services

General dentistry covers examinations, white fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, root canal treatment and gum disease therapy; hygiene uses EMS Airflow with Guided Biofilm Therapy rather than a conventional scale and polish. Orthodontics is unusually deep — fixed and ceramic braces, lingual braces, Invisalign, Spark, Fastbraces, Inman aligners and Six Month Smiles. Implants run from a single tooth to implant bridges, All-on-4 and teeth in a day. Cosmetic work covers porcelain and composite veneers, bonding and whitening. Urgent sessions are held back for pain, swelling, trauma and broken veneers.

Facial aesthetics and complications

The medical side stands on its own: botulinum toxin, dermal and tear-trough filler, non-surgical rhinoplasty, Sculptra, polynucleotides, skin boosters, Morpheus8 and FaceTite tightening and protocols for acne, rosacea and pigmentation, with private blood testing alongside. Correcting injectable work done badly elsewhere is a declared part of the caseload.

The clinicians

MJ Rowland-Warmann holds a distinction master’s in aesthetic medicine from Queen Mary University of London and postgraduate qualifications in orthodontics and endodontics; she injects under facial ultrasound guidance, trains for Sinclair Pharmaceuticals and speaks on the BBC and ITV News about regulation and patient safety. Andrew Travers is a specialist oral surgeon. Ana Rocha and Eduardo Banito both hold clinical master’s degrees in orthodontics; Banito practises only in orthodontics and is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, French and Italian besides English. Jihad Kader holds a restorative diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons and a master’s in oral implantology; Charlotte Kelly is a GMC-registered aesthetic doctor.
