The Liverpool practice that trains other dentists

Ollie and Darsh has been a private cosmetic and orthodontic clinic in Liverpool’s commercial quarter since 2013, run by its two founding clinical directors. Daz Singh, known as Ollie, is a mentor and clinical instructor for Six Month Smiles and secretary to the European Society of Aesthetic Orthodontics: he trains the dentists who deliver it elsewhere. The clinic is a Platinum Elite Six Month Smiles practice and the UK’s leading Spark aligner provider.

Treatments

Straightening is the spine of the practice: Six Month Smiles clear brackets and white wires when only the front teeth show, Spark aligners moulded in ultra-transparent TruGen, and a Spark programme for teenagers. Cosmetic work covers composite bonding, veneers, gum contouring, whitening and smile makeovers, including a wedding plan worked back from the date. Everyday dentistry sits alongside: examinations, hygiene, composite fillings, crowns, bridges, root canal fillings, dentures, extractions, sports and grinding guards, mouth cancer screening. Emergencies have their own line and are taken the same day where possible.

Wearing the smile before it is permanent

Nothing irreversible happens until you have tried the result on. The teeth are scanned, the new smile is designed in wax, and that design is fitted over your own teeth as a trial you can wear, eat with and show off before the permanent work is approved. Hygiene runs on AquaCare: a fluid and powder stream replaces the scraping scaler, and in cutting mode the same handpiece opens small cavities with no drill, no heat, no vibration. Polishing and whitening are booked through the Smile Cafe, where appointments are named after coffees.

Sudarsh Naidoo, the second clinical director, leads the gentler hygiene approach anxious patients come for. Richard Brookshaw takes implants and All-on-4: an MMedSci in oral surgery from Sheffield, implant courses he teaches to dentists nationwide, and a practice limited to implants. Samantha Blake is the dental therapist; Suzy Gorman, the registered manager, has been here since the clinic was an idea.
